Camtasia likes: low learning curve, easy editing, video and audio options are pretty great.

Camtasia dislikes: need to keep original assets (e.g., jpg images, mp3 clips) in same spot to access them during editing process. This can be a pain if you move anything later on.

Other awesome apps to check out:

Blender: video-editor in a 3D modeling engine, motion tracking, green screen, etc. Very professional capabilities. Free and open source, steep learning curve but with lots of documentation online. On par with (ridiculously expensive) engines like Maya. https://www.blender.org/

DaVinci resolve: professional video editor that's handy for video editing and colour correction (the latter is especially useful if you have poor lighting). This is freemium, but the free version has everything you need as an educator (again, this is professional level, so the paid version is for professional film editors). https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/ca/products/davinciresolve

I used TouchCast for the first time for A1 in this class. I spent a few minutes watching the tutorials on their app and found it very user friendly. The only dislike I can think of is that you can only create a TouchCast if you have an ipad. I had to borrow one from a friend. It was well worth it. I had a lot of fun with the green screen effect. Any bright green or blue background will do. What I like the most are the Vapps which make the video interactive. You can add almost anything you can find on the web to your Vapps and just tap and drag it into your video. Editing is very simple and rendering and sharing is fast. I think TouchCast makes a great video making tool for teachers.
