They are a part of Earth’s atmosphere.

Natural greenhouse effect maintains Earth’s average temperature at 15 degrees Celsius. However, in the past years, human activities (such as burning fossil fuels), have led to the release of greenhouse gasses, especially carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere and oceans.

The level of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere has been rising consistently and trapping heat near Earth’s surface which is causing temperatures to rise.
