It is particularly a group of people in the same ethnic group or nation. The word originates from the Ancient Greek word "genos" which means race or tribe, also from the Latin word-forming element "cide" which means killer. Genocide in the past 150 years has been devastating populations, ethnic groups, and religions. All around the world governments, terrorists , and hate groups have carried out genocide. In recent years the race to end genocide has been at an all time peek. The Save Darfur Coalition was founded in 2014 by the United States Holocaust Museum and American Jewish World Service .Their efforts have brought together 1 million activists and hundreds of community committees dedicated to ending the genocide in Darfur. The conflict broke out after the government let off a series of attacks on its people.
The region has been in conflict for many years now. The killings began in 2003 and are still occurring today. The genocide is believed to be carried out by government-armed and funded Arab militias. The main militia, the Janjaweed, destroy the homes and the lives of people by systematically burning their homes, looting the economic resources, polluting water, and murdering, torturing, and raping innocent civilians. The word Janjaweed means "A man with a horse and a gun" . The Janjaweed became aggressive in 2003 after a group named The Sudan Liberation Army carried out attacks on the Sudan government. The Sudan Liberation Army carried out attacks because of the allegations of mistreatment  by the Khartoum Arab regime. After the attacks made by the Liberation Army, The Janjaweed  militias started there reign of terror by  destroying towns and villages that are known to be inhabited by members of the Zaghawa, Masalit, and Fur tribes. Men all around Sudan that have a horse or camel,  have been openly invited to join the Janjaweed in their cohort. What funds the Janjaweed is direct raids in villages and it is said to give them more reason to act with extreme brutality. That would eliminate the hatred and problems with people of different ethnics, skin color, and religions.
