I also think that perhaps women's football hasn’t quite got the support that many people think it got after the Euros, while it is growing more popular within the general population, I still do not think that it is getting the funding that it deserves, particularly if it even wants to begin to try and content with the men’s game.

I think that women's sports in general is something that is incredibly underrepresented in mainstream media and has been for a long time, therefore I felt that it deserved more attention than it is currently getting.

I then began to consider that women's football specifically, was slightly too niche to do a whole 9 week project on and subsequently chose to broaden it to women’s sports as a whole. I think that by doing this I can narrow down later on, but it also means that in the initial stages, I can consider the much broader impact that both politics and society have in influencing how popular women’s sport is.

I think that also looking into how girl’s sports are nurtured and developed through the early years of schooling and even into university, will be such a rich area for discussion within my project. Particularly as I, myself have seen and experienced this first hand. However, the topic also allows for more intersectionality and I will hopefully be able to explore and research the impact that lack of support and funding has had on less well-off girls and women of colour with regard to their sporting endeavours.

I think it will clarify what I do next and help me to progress my project in a more clear and thorough way.

I think particularly there is a need to focus on recording on research sheets, tutor feedback and peer feedback so that I can integrate it with my own thought processes and reflections in order to create a clearer line of reasoning. Although I always record tutor feedback in my feedback book I need to start inputting these into my research so it clarifies the direction that I go in, I think that it would also help me because it might allow me to visualise what has been said slightly more easily.

Post crits I also need to show how my work develops and how I act on this by again putting these on my sheets, in conjunction with this I also need to aim for a higher quality of finesse for my projects, such as my Family Fortunes project where I utilised the workshop spaces, specifical the book arts. However, I would love to take this further and expand my use of them even more, perhaps by using the monoprinting facilities or embossing workshop, both of which I think will become useful. By doing this hopefully I can gain a more professional standard of finish in which what I am trying to communicate is very clear.
