Hey I am Troy. I am a hard worker man who provides for my family by working as a garbage man. I know that's not the best but It gives my family and I food on the table and a roof over our heads. I love baseball and I know I would've made it to the pro leagues if they only allowed blacks. There's so much racial discrimination and that gives me less opportunities to take like I Jackie Robinson had many competitors before if only someone made a change when I was younger. I have a lovely wife, Rose, who stays home and helps me out. I lover her so much and I would do anything for her. I also have a son Corey who knows what he does but as long as he lives under my roof, I tell him what he does. My brother Gabe use to lives with us before he moves out but he comes around. My other son, lyons. I never was around his life when he was young but now he just comes around when he needs something.

Troy believes women should stay home, prep the meals and take care of the house while he work. He's the man in the house so Troy has a job as a garbage man. As long as it gives his family food on the table and a roof over their heads, he's fine with what Troy has. "You all line up at the door with your hands out. I give you the lint from my pockets. I give you my sweat and my blood. I ain't got no tears. I done spent them". (Troy) Act 1 scene 3

I do empathize with Troy. I can get what Try was trying to do with his family. He believes what he's doing i right because in his generation, he was treated unfairly and now he wants to protect his family by controlling them. Even on some disagreements with Troy's thinking about women staying home and the men working for their family. I think Troy just thinks like that because in his society that's on society was, with women not having any opportunities as now and even when Corey, Troy's son, was trying to explain to his father how the world is changing and people are having ore chances at life, Troy thinks the world will be the same.

The baseball bat relates to Troy because all his life, Tory was non stop talking about baseball. He was very passionate about it too and would've made it to the pro league if he wasn't colored as he believes. Talking to family, Tory relates his life with baseball saying he got 3 strikes and he's always been on 2 explaining his mess ups. Troy loves baseball and he even keeps a bat and a ball in the back, hitting the ball once awhile and when death comes by, Troy is ready for him with a bat in his hand ready to take a swing at it.

This poem relates to my character because Troy loves his family no matter what, he just wants what's best for everyone. Even during hard times, when Corey and his father weren't on good terms, when Corey came back after going to the marines, Corey will always love his father and he would always cherish everything his father did for him. His father wanted what's best for his son but sometimes you have to let your children make their own choice and responsibilities.

The lyrics from the song, "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke relates to the character, Troy, because in Troy's life, everything is changing, with society becoming more lenient, his son fighting back, and his affair he had with a women he got pregnant. Troy doesn't want anything to change though, he wants his family with him and he wants to keep everything he loves safe but later Troy knew life is changing he has to agree with it so as long as Troy has his family, he doesn't care what matters to him. Death can take him all he wants, but he wants his family to stay out of death's hands.

A theme in The Raisin In the Sun is about Race. This play is about Black families in the 50's and 60's that experience racism. The Younger family are a not just any ordinary family especially the way they treat each other. Mama wants to move to a actual home she can afford from her husband's insurance after his passing. "But you've got to admit that a man, right or wrong, has the right to want to have the neighborhood he lives in a certain kind of way." Mama found a nice home for her family in the suburbs but the problem is it's in a white community and the white families around the neighborhood don't want the Younger family to move in.

A theme in Fences is mainly about family. The Maxson family have internal problems that they believe will be solved if they keep each other close that's when Rose asks Troy to build a fence. The fence represents how they want their family to be together ad safe."You showed me how to not make the same mistakes...to take life as it comes along and keep putting one foot in front of the other." This quote relates to the theme because Bono explains to Troy that he's family and he's been by his side following him everywhere and that's what family do.

Comparing The Raisin in the Sun and The fences, between each other they're similar in some way because Troy and Walter both have similar attitudes and perspectives with life. Both fathers get their pride in the way and especially when Troy let his ego ruin his relationship with his son when he ruined his son's chance at football. Walter us selfish like Troy, thinking what he's doing is right and it will turn out for the better. The Raisin in The Sun was all about family and Fences was mainly abut a family falling apart.
