That is when Opium trade started.</div><div><br></div><div>Later on when this trade continued, China realized the problem with Opium on its citizens and tried to halt the trade.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>China found cases of illegal opium and destroyed it, were the British takes this as a act of war</div><div><br></div><div>First opium war start 1839 to 1842, in the end the treaty of Commerce take place, on a British Warship.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Later on the second Opium war takes place on 1856 to 1860, with the Treaty of Tientsin at the end of the war. Both the two treaties only benefited Britain in benefits, leaving China out.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-When Britain first made contact with china, they wanted to trade with them to get special goods like silk<br><br>-China only wanted silver and gold for their products, but Britain did not want to give gold and silver to china because their economy was based off of how much gold and silver they had.&nbsp;<br><br>-Britain decided to grow opium in india, and smuggle it into China, hoping to get China’s population addicted to it.<br><br>-once china became addicted to opium, Britain was able to trade opium for china’s goods.<br><br>-the Chinese government hated the fact the the British were making their people addicted to a drug banned in britian, so they started a war, but due to Britain’s superior navy, china was beaten badly. This was the first opium war, and china was forced to sign a embarrassing treaty which allowed britian access to Chinese ports and cities, and did not allow china to ban opium.&nbsp;<br><br>-after a while a second opium war began, between the french and British and the Chinese, again the Chinese were destroyed by the Europeans superior navy, and had to sign another treaty giving Britain even more ports and even the city of Hong Kong </div>]]></description>
