Today in Serbia there are about 6,500 scientists. From the end of the 19th century until the Second World War, there were 139 graduated chemists in Serbia. Half of that number left the career for family reasons, although some of them, like Ksenija Atanasijević, persisted in their scientific career. Ksenija Atanasijević has published 400 works from various scientific fields, and some of them are "Bruno's Lesson Learning about the Smallest", "Yugoslav Thinkers", and two volumes of "Philosophical fragments", and our only scientist is quoted in the Encyclopedia Britannica. She also engaged in translation work, some of the most important philosophical works and papers in the field of psychology, with Greek and German.
None of the first Serbian scientists, despite valuable work and obvious scientific results, never received any state recognition. Ksenija Atanasijevic never became a professor, and her male colleagues even called her a plagiarist.
The scientists of our time, in comparison to the pioneering undertakings of their predecessors, have far greater support and opportunities, although today the situation is not shining.

Her father Theon was mathematician and astronomer who did not limit her appetite for learning. She studied in Athens and returned to Egypt. Among her students was persons of the most powerful families of Alexandria, where later they assumed extremely high positions. The philosopher was a victim of political antagonism. They kidnapped her and carried her to a church where they flayed her and when she died, she broke her body and threw a piece into the fire. The martyrdom of Hypatia in 415 AD was characterized as the end of classical antiquity. In 2009 was released a movie Agora based on the story of the Alexandrian philosopher.
