I feel I try to present Indigenous perspectives but I want to focus on directly challenging students to consider other perspectives especially when it comes to sharing stories about Residential Schools or current issues. I often ask my son to consider various view points and I enjoy hearing him work through his understanding. However, I can see how embracing the idea of seasons and cycles is a great way to learn about the land and about each other. Applying the Medicine Wheel, we can examine so many concepts through it including seasons and each other's roles and how it all relates. I hope to do a better job of flipping that script and not only focusing on our interconnectedness but that we in fact rely more on the land and everything on it than the land needs us.
