I see that the video format is seemingly prefered, so I will use it again :-). I have just refered to this video in a comment I have made about another contribution, but it could be interesting to make it more visible.

A man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack is a “cyberattack where the attacker secretly relays and possibly alters the communications between two parties who believe that they are directly communicating with each other” […] “As it aims to circumvent mutual authentication, a MITM attack can succeed only when the attacker impersonates each endpoint sufficiently well to satisfy their expectations. Most cryptographic protocols include some form of endpoint authentication specifically to prevent MITM attacks”.

Reference: Wikipedia contributors. (2021, May 7). Man-in-the-middle attack. In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 08:20, May 11, 2021, from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Man-in-the-middle_attack&oldid=1021914886.

I find this video interesting because we can see in it that the digital identity of a person, an organization or a device like a computer is also connected to the digital certificate which “represents” them at the digital firm and the digital authentication, but this digital certificate can also be attacked while we are ignoring it… This video explains more or less technically how we might suffer a man-in-the-middle attack (Laura López Ramírez).

I came across this page to inform California residents about a new law to protect personal information. The so-called 'solution' is to make parents fill out tons of forms called 'Do Not Sell requests' so companies like Whatsapp may let them request to ask the deletion of their conversations from their servers - even then, only from the previous 12 months. I wonder how much conversation was initiated with residents prior to this law has taken effect. A custom form example: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/files/uploads/pdfs/blank_consumer_request-spanish-bilingual.pdf

Put it in simple words, the right to be forgotten (or right to erasure) “entitles individuals to request that search engines delist URLs from across the internet that contain “inaccurate, inadequate, irrelevant or excessive” information surfaced by queries containing the name of the requester”. Within the EU law framework (art. 17 GDPR), this right is increasing “its specific weight in balancing with other conflicting rights”. Thus, it is not an absolute right.

The article carries out a brief analysis of the evolution of this right and the main controversies born during the years.

I found it important because this right is part of the GDPR which, as we all know, is the current EU legislation on data protection.
erica_t
