I know that ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder, not a disease. It mainly affects focus, attention, and self-regulation, but many students with ADHD also show creativity and strong problem-solving skills. I want to know more about how schools in Ontario decide what supports each child receives, what strategies are most effective in the classroom, and how families and teachers can work together. I also wonder about new assistive technologies for ADHD. What I found interesting is that Ontario has formal processes like IEPs and IPRCs to plan supports, and that families can access financial programs such as the Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities or the Child Disability Benefit. I also learned that the Special Equipment Amount provides technology like laptops or noise-cancelling headphones to support students with ADHD.
