He then goes on the run making it all the way to mexico and brought back to face trial despite being entirely innocent. This now leads into the monologue where hes somewhere between the courtroom and a jail cell. Hes protesting his innocence to his mother.

For the run we had Meghan watching us who noted to Jess and I that although during the solo parts we can be heard during the ensemble lines our voices are drowned out by Kwame's. So we really need to push them so it becomes a group performance not a solo. For example throughout the song we need to slow down the pace as lines are being said out of time and it takes away from the performance, this is especially noticeable in two instances the first being the opening verse from "A pair of new shoes" until "my personal puss on a wooden nikul" where it ruins the performance despite good characterisation and energy. The second being from "almost about to drown in the drink" where during this we weren't accommodating for breath so the whole verse was being done with one breath rather than using the short gaps in between each line for a quick inhale. For me the motivation was to perform to the best of my ability as I imagined myself being part of one in front of Industry professionals in the future. After watching this and gaining a better understanding of the story I recognised the themes of the performance, for me the most important one was acceptance as in the story Pippin comes to learn that you cant have everything without consequence (when he kills his father for power). But in the finale nearly takes his own life by jumping into a box of fire and "becoming one with the flame".
