The Salem witch trials, which took place in 1692 in colonial Massachusetts, were a series of hearing and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft. These trials began after a group of girls claimed to be possessed by witches using witchcraft and black magic on them leading to a widespread panic to everyone. Over the months, more than 200 people were accused and 20 individuals, mostly women, were executed. The trials were fueled by a combination of religious pastors from many kinds. The trials ultimately ended when public opinion turned against the proceedings and later making them unlawful.

In the crucible, seven teen girls are accused of practicing witchcraft after being caught dancing in the world. To avoid punishment, they falsely claim to be possessed and accuse others of witchcraft. The "curse" they invoke is the societal and legal repercussions of their accusations, which spiral into mass hysteria and lead to the wrongful execution of innocent people. The girls manipulate the fear of witchcraft to gain power and control over the Salem community. they accused all their enemies and innocent people just by stating their full name.

In The Crucible, innocent people are executed as a result of the mass hysteria and false accusations of witchcraft. The girls accuse numerous townsfolk of practicing witchcraft to protect themselves and seek revenge. The court accepts these accusations as truth without proper evidence, relying on spectral evidence and confessions coerced under pressure. As the trials progress, many people are condemned based on flimsy testimony. Ultimately, the fear of witches leads to the execution of 20 people, most of whom are innocent, while the real instigators of the panic escape unscathed.

In The Crucible, the teen girls are caught dancing in the woods by Reverend Parris. They were performing a ritualistic dance led by Tituba, the Parris family's servant, in an attempt to summon spirits or cast spells. Fearing punishment, Abigail and the others quickly claim they were bewitched and accuse others of witchcraft to deflect blame. The incident sparks the witch trials, with the girls' accusations fueling the panic in Salem. The dancing in the woods becomes a pivotal event that ignites the mass hysteria and wrongful persecution of innocent people.

In The Crucible, the Puritans are depicted as a strict, religious community with rigid moral codes, believing they must uphold God's law to avoid hell. Their society is governed by a theocratic system, where church and state are deeply intertwined, and any deviation from religious doorways is seen as a threat to their survival. Puritans in Salem live in constant fear of sin and the devil, which makes them susceptible to mass hysteria and witchcraft accusations. The rigidness of their beliefs leads to an environment of fear, repression, and intolerance, where dissent is punished harshly. The Puritanical values of obedience, piety, and conformity play a central role in the events of the witch trials, contributing to the unjust execution of innocent people.
