I found your literature map easy to follow. I especially liked your color coding and concise labels within each area. As I shared in email, I wrote my final paper for 800 on the topic of gender and leadership, so I found your research interest intriguing and can certainly share some studies. I'd be interested to learn if beauty pageant participants emerged as elite leaders because as I found through my research, that is not usually the case. I really like your literature map! It is easy to identify your 3 streams and I like the deeper dive that you will take into each stream. Having a teenage daughter, I find your topic interesting. While she is not the pageant type, I try to provide her with experiences and opportunities to develop her own leadership skills. I am wondering about the traning portion of pageants. In what ways, and by whom, are contestants taught the leadership skills that emerge? Is it simply that females who already posess strong leadership skills are interested in competing? Or will you find that they are not elite leaders, as Marilyn's research uncovered, because they are not given solid training through the process? I am curious to see the results of your research!

Shar, great Job!  Very detailed, informative, and easy to follow.  You did a good job explaining and showing exactly what pagentry on the corporate level is all about.  I never knew that it required so much administratively and it seems to be a good stepping stone towards a great career.  I liked your details on the leadership roles and all the other opportunities available.  This is a good niche and a worthwhile pursuit.
