back in the 1920's there were articles wondering "is major league baseball an illegal monopoly" which was also a researched topic up to as recent as 2002 which doesn't seem to recent but still it was a researched topic up to over 80 years later but it was wondered if baseball was trying to be used to exempt certain taxes in 1920 it was decided that the league itself would be exempt from taxation but people continued to wonder if it was a scandal and if the people running the major baseball league were just using it to make immense money that wouldn't be taxed but it was consistently a major issue throughout the 20's however it cooled down after then still being a discussed topic by people and press it just became less main line eventually fading out to the point where it no longer matters
