After finding out that I was going to be interviewing someone about their career and what their experience was I knew I wanted to interview my grand father. His career as a master carpenter, head project manager, quality insurance inspector and so many more titles to his name I was sure that there was going to be a lot of information, wisdom and growth from this interview. Creative advertising over Marketing in Broad because I am not a numbers, behind a screen all day, analytical person. I am creative and want to express my ides and inspire. I feel that is more accessible in creative advertising

What was High School like?

High School for me was a very interesting and this was where some of my greatest highs have been but as well as some of my greatest lows. Being a Varsity wrestler throughout my entire high school career brought on a lot of challenges that were difficult to over come but brought me a lot of growth and learning how to deal with time management, hard work, being a team player, as well as keeping me in good physical shape. As of right now I am a bartender at Dublin Square where I take on the challenge of serving hundreds of customers a night working in a high volume, high stress environment that has benefitted me greatly in finding what I do not mind in the work place as well as what I may dislike. I have been working in the restaurant industry overall for 3 years now and working my way through the ranks. I've found a definite liking for the restaurant industry.

The reason why I interviewed Mario Lacasse is because he has so much experience in his field that could share his stories and what some of the struggles he faces in his role. I was curious about project manager because I was thinking about majoring in construction management. Now with this interview I am able to use this information to help me better find what I want to be when I graduate.

Professional Organization Delta Sigma Pi

Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) is a professional fraternity that I am currently in that has been benefitting me greatly in becoming more immersed into the business world. As well as building connections for internships, career fairs, resume building, etc. DSP has brought me many opportunities to better myself and I only see more opportunities coming with the events that come along. I am so grateful to find such a good resource so early in my college career as well to be able to continue it for so long to build well lasting relationships.

MSU Advertising Association is a club at MSU that when I looked at their post I found much more than meets the eye, with this association they bring a lot of value with their networking events that they host. Also getting us students experience with professionals in the workplace. I believe that adds a lot of value because education can only get you so far... real work experience will benefit you greatly and this club can offer that.

I found a ton of benefit because I was unsure how to approach this interview. But that sample interview gave me a idea of how to build on the guiding questions during the interview. I was very pleased with how the timing and pace panned out. As Construction Management has been possibility for me as a career. Another career path that interests me is going into Creative Marketing or Event Designer/Planner also hold my interest in something that I could be. I am trying to figure out what I want to do someday so I am currently looking over many options as I'm curious for experience. Some companies that interest me would be marketing for Carhartt because I really like their brand and would like to work with them to get more people wearing Carhartt.

Reflection of WP3

Overall this project was a lot to create, I found my self having to work through issues and spend time thinking about how I wanted to approach each section of the project. I thought that there was a lot of information to find for yourself that can be beneficial. But I also found that the Career Service videos are pretty surface level and might bring some insight but a different section for future projects might be better. I did find it enjoyable looking at different careers and trying to find something that fits for me. As well as the interview I found value from that and it brought me a lot of insight of what to expect from that field as well as that position.
