We have been reaching out to our families out of necessity because we often can not see the families and the take away has been astonishing. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I use to think....... that there was a lack of equity particularly for our mid-low income student in general when discussing the education system<br><br>Now I think....... that it is unsettling to think that it took a pandemic to actually have some of these equities highlighted and hopefully addressed.  The technology issue is a large one specifically in the low income community. There are layers of the physical tech and the lack of digital literacy of families<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>I used to think that the government were in charge of providing social services to our families<br><br>Now I think <br>That as school leader we need to understand that some families are living in poverty as result of COVID 19, often work multiple jobs, etc.<br>In order to develop trusting relationships we need to engage  parents, families, and the community.<br>To ensure effective two-way communication school need to involve the staff in contacting the parents on a regular basis to provide them with resources available in order to develop trust.<br>School need to allocate funding to provide additional support our students and families need at this time.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>I used to think that pre-existing inequities make a major difference in educational outcomes... and I still think that!  However, I also think that if you can overcome certain barriers  such as providing students with working technology and food to eat, schools that have experience inequities in the past can and often do outperform those that don&#39;t. I think this can be a result of many factors such as teachers and admin having to routinely think outside of the box, as well as having a motivation to serve families and students that goes beyond the traditional requirements of teaching </title>

We can make very powerful, very rapid, and even very effective change when necessity calls.  If we think equity and access is a necessity, there is not as much in our way as we might think if we are determined to address it and act on it.</div>]]></description>
