Max hails from the U. S. A. and he is one of Feliks' rivals. Surprisingly, he is on the autistic spectrum and yet he still loves cubing. He picked it up at a young age and stuck with it. Sometimes, his parents even had to say, "Max, put the cube down, we're eating." Max and Feliks are friends outside of the competitions and get along well.

Rubiks Cubes have much more to them than you think. They have a little more than 43 quintillion algorithms. If you were to spread out the permutations of a large scrambled Rubiks Cube, it would wrap around the earth 300 times. THREE HUNDRED TIMES. In comparison, if we took all of our blood vessels, and that's a lot, it would only wrap around the earth twice. Only two times... that's a lot of permutations on a cube.

Inspiration

Erno Rubik opened up about where he got inspiration for his cube. Erno Rubik says, and I quote, "I was searching for a way to demonstrate 3D movement to my students and one day found myself staring into the River Danube, looking at how the water moved around the pebbles." This would be his inspiration for the turning mechanism in the middle.

Prototypes

The original prototypes for the cubes we have today, were wooden. Erno Rubik made prototypes for his cubes, like prototypes are made for everything. The wooden cube had shaved off corners and 29 blocks like they have today.

This is Erno Rubik, the creator of the cube. He is 78 years old. He is actually a Jr. His father, Erno Rubik Sr. was where he got his inspiration. His father was an engineer and ended up getting Erno to engineer things of his own.
