You want to better understand what your students know and don’t know and find ways to meet their wide-ranging needs. i-Ready can be a powerful tool in helping you achieve this, but with so much you already must keep track of and do, you likely wonder where you should focus your attention.

To help, we’ve condensed our i-Ready guidance down to a list of five habits. Cultivating these habits can help you and your students get the most from the i-Ready program and thrive in the classroom.

| Plan with purpose
Plan your instruction by reviewing the Class Profile, Instructional Grouping Profile, and Student Profile reports after each Diagnostic. Remember to build a foundation of high-quality data by actively facilitating each administration of the i-Ready Diagnostic.

| Strive for 45
Allow students to receive 45 minutes of online instruction per subject, per week by integrating it into your weekly schedule and actively tracking and adjusting student usage.

| Review and respond
Monitor student progress and prioritize your interventions each week using the Response to Instruction report (and Standards Mastery reports as applicable).
 |

| Tailor your teaching
Address students’ unique needs by delivering teacher-led instruction to small groups or individual students at least once per week using i-Ready Tools for Instruction and Ready lessons.

| Motivate and celebrate
Engage students in their own learning by setting learning goals, recognizing and celebrating growth, and encouraging self-reflection.

 

 

Here is the info for the Pan Con Café (parent café): 

 

Parent café is a peer to peer model where parents get the opportunity to connect, support, and learn from each other. The idea is that parents will discuss topics that are important and relevant to them in relation to themselves, children and families. If all goes well, parents get the opportunity to develop leadership skills and run the groups themselves. I will start them off 1x per month starting February (TBD). We will start them in Spanish and go from there. Here is a link to what a parent support looks like:

Every four years Hattie updates his effect sizes for teaching and instructional strategies. This article includes the "Super Six." I also found a new approach in this update that I hadn't seen before, "Teacher Credibility (0.90)," which Hattie defines as follows: teacher credibility is vital to learning, and students are very perceptive about knowing which teachers can make a difference. There are four key factors of credibility: trust, competence, dynamism and immediacy. Hattie puts it like this: “If a teacher is not perceived as credible, the students just turn off.”
