         <description><![CDATA[<p>Rubber was important during World War 2 because it was used to make parts such as those in vehicles, hospitals, uniforms, war materials, military equipment, and more. The military required rubber to make supplies that they could use in war, such as aircraft tires, pontoon bridges, gas, oxygen masks, medical supplies, boots, raincoats, shoes, and even erasers. Rubber was essential for military operations, used in tires, aircraft components, gas masks, and various other equipment. For instance, a single heavy bomber required about 1,825 pounds of rubber.          </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Ukraine-Russia war affects the import of Russian synthetic rubber into Japan. It causes the operation to stop at Japanese tire and rubber factories in Russia, the cost increase of rubber raw materials, and the shortage of carbon black in the EU. Due to the U.S.-China conflict, China's risk may cause potential supply chain risk of rubber chemicals in the world rubber industry. There are more than 400 operational sites of Japanese rubber-related companies in China. It should be considered what risks there are in case the U.S.-China conflict becomes worse. With Japan being one of the most important rubber manufacturers(around $600M monthly), this affected other industries, like the automotive industry, where Japan's Toyota is the largest car manufacturer in the world, and tire manufacturing is decreasing.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In addition to the rubber shortages, the United States opened the US. The Synthetic Rubber program aims to develop and mass-produce synthetic rubber products to meet military demands. The US wanted to be the biggest rubber exporter to make more money before Brazil can get more rubber than the US. Afterward, the US and Brazil start to have a "Battle of rubber," an argument to boost rubber production in the Amazon. Brazil has committed to increasing rubber production, and the US has provided financial and technical assistance. Brazil has recruited approximately 100,000 workers to meet this expectation and is known as rubber soldiers. The onset of World War 2 cut off the US access to 90% of natural rubber supplies. During that time, the United States had a stockpile of about one million tons of natural rubber, a rate about 600,000 tons per year without commercials. After the natural rubber supply and the RRC have communicated to have an annual production of 400,000 tons of purpose of synthetic rubber to work in 4 different rubber factories. The situation of rubber needs is becoming more critical for the war effort, as it has increased. </p><p>Rubber Before World War II: </p><p>Natural rubber was still the rubber of choice until the mid-1800s because no other supplies had been discovered yet. </p><ul><li><p>1930s – Oil in Buna rubber was developed in Germany</p></li><li><p>1935 – Additional co-workers of synthetic rubbers were created in Germany, Russia, and North America.               Rubber During World War II:</p><p>Natural rubber and synthetic rubber production were needed during the early war for all countries that got involved. Rubber can be used in different types of ways.</p></li><li><p>The amount of rubber used for war in the 1940s included:</p><ul><li><p>32 pounds of rubber per soldier for footwear, clothing, and equipment</p></li><li><p>1,000 pounds of rubber for one military airplane</p></li><li><p>Approximately 2,000 pounds of rubber for one tank</p></li><li><p>75+ tons of rubber for one battleship </p><p>The United States alone had used half of the world's natural rubber supplies by the late 1930s, and most of it came from Southeast Asia. </p><p>Rubber After World War II:</p><p>Industry-leading rubber manufacturers such as Airboss have built on the historical rubber events and continue to build on the formation and manufacturing processes.    </p></li></ul><p>            </p></li></ul>]]></description>

The US has agreed to buy Brazil's excess crude oil and rubber at a fixed price for 5 years. Therefore, the US also contributes to funding for the improvement of rubber production in the Amazon. This deal also led to Brazil increasing its annual rubber production. This strategy shows diplomatic negotiation because they have met directly to talk about increasing the quality. They solved this by using diplomatic negotiations because they met directly in the U.S to sign a contract that Brazil would produce rubber for the U.S, and the U.S would provide the resources to make the rubber.    </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Pros:</p><ol><li><p>The synthetic rubber program effectively alleviated the shortages of rubber, ensuring that the Allies had enough rubber for their military needs. </p></li><li><p>Brazil's increased rubber production strengthened the US-Brazil relationship and contributed to the war.   </p></li></ol><p>Cons:</p><ol><li><p>The Amazon rubber campaign has resulted in the deaths of many thousands of workers due to illnesses, poor working conditions, and not good support.   </p></li><li><p>Many rubber soldiers were promised rights and recognitions but only received little or no compensation after the war, leading to unresolved issues.   </p></li></ol><p>Overall I think that the Cons over power the pros because even they still got the rubber that they wanted but people lives are more important then just rubber because people lives one time and rubber can be produces more and more the same person can't live and die and live and die again and again so it not fair if people have to worked so hard to produce rubber while they are just dying in the poor conditions. While working hard to find or work to produce rubber it not fair to be not pay them when you promised that you will and just by producing and finding is already making the workers and soilders tired that why not paying them is not fair for the workers who helped the country.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Japan has taken a few strategic steps to respond to the supply chain disruption in its rubber industry caused by the war in Ukraine and Russia and increasing tensions between the U.S. and China. Major Japanese tire and rubber manufacturers, such as Bridgestone and Yokohama, suspended their Russian operations briefly to balance geopolitical risks. In response to the supply chain unpredictability, companies also hedged against their sourcing strategy by reducing the dependency on Russian and Chinese suppliers by identifying additional foreign partners. In order to further increase the resilience, Japanese companies began to establish domestic production capabilities, backed by the government through incentives and investing in domestic plants.</p><p><br/></p><p>At the government level, Japan assisted economic security by implementing policies that would protect key industries from foreign shocks. This included helping the transfer of production from high-risk regions to Japan or lower-risk countries. Japan also placed strong emphasis on sustainability and ethical sourcing. Japanese tire makers joined international associations like the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), where they pledged themselves to labor and environmental sustainable practices. The market will be valued at approximately $3.6 billion by 2030 with a 2025-2030 five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5%. Natural rubber will be the biggest as well as the fastest-growing market segment during the forecasted years.<br><br>Technological development is driving the way. The Japanese companies are investing massive capital in research and development for developing high-performance synthetic rubbers with enhanced properties like heat, chemical, and durability resistance. Apart from that, increasing emphasis is being laid on sustainability, with activities involved in developing eco-friendly materials along with the implementation of circular economy principles. These include employing eco-friendly raw materials, minimizing waste, and recycling and reuse to achieve global environmental standards.<br><br>The automotive sector is one of the largest users of rubber products, even more so in the manufacturing of tires. The future of electric vehicles (EVs) will also significantly affect the company, as EVs require tires that are specifically made as well as rubber components with varying characteristics and longer lifespans compared to those installed in conventional gasoline-fueled vehicles.<br><br>There are geopolitical issues such as trade tension and supply chain disruption which can be threats to the sector. However, Japan's active role in technology development and sustainability allows its rubber sector to be dynamic and a world leader.<br><br>In conclusion, the future of the Japanese rubber industry will be bright, marked by innovation in technology, environmental friendliness, and high conformity with international market trends. This trajectory is sure to further establish the position of Japan as a leading country in the world rubber industry by 2030.</p>]]></description>
