The Historical fiction book I was reading was called RUSH REVERE and the STAR-SPANGLED BANNER BY RUSH LIMBAUGH and KATHRYN ADAMS LIMBAUGH. It is also focused around a group of friends that had a report due and time traveled to get some answers. At this time the united state's was trying to agree with all the states about signing the Constitution

THE SIGNING OF THE CONSTITUTION
One major historical event that was going on at this time was the signing of the Constitution of 1787. (The story was influenced by this part in our history.) Many people were involved like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. This process took 11 years. It took so long because the different representatives from different states could not agree. The States could not agree because they had just gotten independence and they all wanted to have their ideas. James Madison stayed up all night sometimes to work and kept his plan a complete secret. Thomas Jefferson did the same thing.

FOOD AND CANDY
During this time a lot of New foods and candies were created. A lot of famous candies were actually created at this time. Favorites include molasses pulls, rock candy, and peanut brittle, with a stunning story no one will forget! Slaves that were chefs for merchants created candy. A lot of the food and candy are still around today. Some candy or food has involved in other candies but the general item is still around. There have also been occasions where different foods were turned into different items. For example, beef jerky used to be named Chocolate until chest discovered cocoa beans and how to make real chocolate as we know it today.
