The high levels of self rule can be seen with the formation of house of Burgessese, may flower compact,the start of salutary neglect,and the fundamental orders of ct. The formation of house of Burgesses was the trendsetter in self rule of the American colonies as the Jamestown colony was the first colony to create a Burgesses or representative house which inspired the fundamental orders of ct which fully described in detailed  the structure of how ct would run its self ruled government with government limits listed. Before that however the mayflower compact was the first written documentation of self rule structer in the colonial period. However none of the self rule showned here would be possible without the lead way given towards it by the start of salutary neglect with loose trade room. All of these events mentioned happened  during the early 1600s and since unfortunately the period just mentioned would be for the most part the highest peak for self rule for the American colonies for a very long time.

Things took a turn for the worse on the self rule scale for the colonies in the mid 1600s as in 1658 the navigation act started which cracked down and contained colonial trade completed and refrained them from going outside the limits set by the king and prevented market growth. This act was the exact opposite of the salutary neglect act in the early 1600s which gave the colonies their foundation to start up self rule. So the downhill spiral started with the navigation act in 1658 all the way trough the late 1600s with specifically the dominion of new England in 1686 which took the separate  colonies of new England,Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island and New York in a effort to easily control all these colonies at once which shows how self rule were slipping out the hands of the colonies very quickly as the British were running a tighter shift. With the Boston rebellion shown on the time line to follow not long after the Dominion of New England the Dominion ended and the colonies were separate again and gained back some of their original self rule policies. 

However the colonies were never able to capitalize and grow their self rule  policies  as in 1699 with the wool Act was one of many acts that only strongly detailed and highlighted the original purpose of the navigation act as the rules and restrictions got more detailed and descriptive on what the colonies could trade ad ship such as the wool act and what they could import outside of the kings guidelines with the Molasses act in 1733 and it gets to the point were the colonies are limited to the type of materiel they can produce and use as mentioned in the  Iron act of 1750 as they were limited to the use of only scrap metal. At this point the movement of self rule started in the early to mid 1600s are a thing in the past as there has not been any real self rule growth in the colonies since but instead only tighter restrictions in the late 1600s to the early 1700s as mentioned in my thesis which are put upon the colonies by the British as a effort to keep as much control as possible in British hands. When looking at this later period it can be seen that the self rules levels were on a decline starting in the late 1600s all the way to the 1700s.
