I'm Natxo and I'm 43. I've been in the EOI for seven years and I've achieved a C2.1 English level, although I don't know how.

I have a great sense of humor and I like meeting new people. I hope to have a great time with all of you in Croatia and I'm sure that we'll learn a lot of interesting things there.

Hello,

I’m Isabel and I’ 'm in my 60s, wrong side (67). I'm part of the inventory of the EOI the Palencia, attending classes since 2007, first in English A1 level, later in Italian as far as C1, and again in English C2.1.

My expectation about this trip is really big, because not only do I know very little about this country, but also I’m extremely keen on being in contact with other cultures that differ so much from ours.

I’m looking forward to meeting the whole group.

I am Mauro, I started studying French and English at EOI Palencia in 2013, when I was young, now 62 old, I do C1 course of English language.

Going to Zagreb with Erasmus+ program seems like a fun way to improve my vocabulary and consolidate the grammar that I have learned by practising non-stop.

We are going to visit one of the Christmas markets awarded by European Best Destination and the city of Zagreb has worked hard to position itself as a tourist destination at Christmas time.

In Croatia there are 2 types of climate: Mediterranean and Continental.In ZAGREB the climate is continental with cold winters and temperatures below zero, something similar to what we have in Palencia. The Dalmatian coast with a mediterranean climate is similar to our Levantine coast. Croatia is a country. large with very varied geography, with much to offer the visitor.

It is said that the city of Zagreb was created in the year 1094. In the 12th century the Croatian kingdom became part of Hungary. On Wednesday we visited the Nikola Tesla technological museum. It shows the visitor the evolution of different types of machines to transform energy in a multitude of applications, such as electric and current motors. In addition, there are numerous vehicles, planes, locomotives from different eras up to the space age with rockets and space vehicles used to discover the moon. However, as an engineer I admire the work of the physicist Nicola Tesla, the section dedicated to Nicola Tesla was the most interesting because there was a live exhibition of his most important inventions.

Last wednesday, secondary students told us about Croatian Xmas Traditions
"Badnjak os Panja" is the 
Christmas log that will iluminate the home that night. This light symbolizes homely warmth.

A very curious tradition: "Bozicna Slama", which is choosing a place in the house, to fill it with straw and letting the children roll around and play, emulating a manger.

Finally, the Saint Barbara's Day, when wheat is sown – božićna pšenica -, which symbolizes the renewal of life, fertility and the blessing for the next harvest. Furthermore, wheat grows until Christmas Day and is then used as a decoration for the Christmas table. In some regions, wheat is planted on Saint Lucia's Day, December 13.

On our first day in Zagreb we met with the technicians and the director of the municipal library. The techniques of the Zagreb library showed us the day-to-day life of the municipal library and its best practices. On the other hand, we explained different topics of Palencia in orther to give them an overview of Palencia. The photograph shows a relaxed moment at the end of the event where we enjoyed having Turkish coffee and typical cookies.

"Madonna Del Mare" was an image which placed on the seashore by the family of Count Arthur Kesselstadt, who died in a spring storm in 1891 off the coast of Opatija. The sculpture was damaged by the waves and renovated many times. Finally, it was replaced by "The Girl with the Seagull".

The artist, Zvonko Car,never revealed the identity of his model, the prototype of "The Girl with the Seagull". Only many years after it turned out that the sculptor's model was Jelena Jendrašić , the artist's neighbour at the time.

Anja Stevic, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral researcher who was a visiting scholar at Stanford University in 2023. Her research focuses on social media and well-being, media psychology and mobile communication.
Yesterday, she has explained to us how her stance was there.
She lived with an Airbnb host very closed to Mark Zuckerberg garage.
Train takes her 2 hours to San francisco and costs only 10$.
Palo Alto is a town with one of the highest cost of living un USA. It's almost impossible to buy a House there.
On the other hand, she recommended us not to visit Tenderloin, which is the only dangerous neighborhood in San Francisco.
