Bunn wants us to read like writes by asking questions about the text before, during and after we read. These questions mainly ask us, why and who is the author writing to so that we know the motivation of the author and the style of writing in the sense that it's easier to understand for people trying to learn or for experienced readers. We are also asked to think about what evidence can be used in our own writing and to really think how this evidence can improve or ruin it. We should also question the evidence’s effectiveness since the author should try to convey their message.

Parents have to set a high standard for their child since that’s how children grow the most, but not to the point they give up. Growth mindset should be taught to a child so that failure doesn't seem like the end of the work, instead it makes them think of a new way to overcome the trial.

There are many reasons, but the amount of time is one of the reasons since they had multiple readings to complete in a certain time. The student’s current reading skills also has an effect on the student’s motivation to read since students with a lower level have trouble reading more complex text.

Yancey talks about the changes writing has gone through all these years. She mentions how writing is a creative outlet that helps express emotions and reading was a source of entertainment. Some resources include computers and the evolving dip pen to pencil.Nowadays in school, reading is a way to learn and writing is less creative and more of a way to document what you learned. This is a stressor that some students find unpleasant about “new” reading.

There are a lot more standards set because you reach this high of a level in education that most things aren't going be spelled out for you. College writing requires more than high school writing in the sense that it has more freedom and allows you to write about nearly anything, but the cost of that is less structure and support if not asked for it.

In my opinion, the reason for this situation is the habit left over from students' long-term practice of structured writing, which cannot be easily changed in a short time. Just like when I was in high school, I would choose writing as the last task, because writing has a clear structure, and I only need to write the composition according to the structure. So I can get more time to do other things.

I think students will regard writing as a means to get better grades, and to get better grades is to have an advantage in future employment. So students will find it sufficient to write using a framework.

Students see writing as a tool to be used, a task to be done. It's not a skill. So don't spend too much time on writing, but write with a mindset of being able to get it done.

I think that's the difference between high school and college reading. In high school, the most important thing to do in reading is to find the main idea of the article, rather than reading slowly to feel each word. But in college, students can read word for word and learn other people's writing methods and habits.

The author believes that certain conditions are required to quote the raw materials of celebrities. If the conditions are not suitable, then the quoted materials will not have the desired effect when writing.

We can learn this method in the process of learning to write, which can help us think while writing, and also make us better express our own opinions in the article.

The author thinks that reading can help us get the information, but if we want to use the information in the article, we need to know everything about the information. The author uses metaphors to compare information to architecture, and people who write to architects. Then the architect needs to understand all the structures of the building.

The article "Academic Writing in College" talks about the differences between college writing and high school writing since it has less rules and more freedom on college. Warner tries to get us to remove most things we learned since it wouldn't benefit us n college level writing. College level writing supports the writer more since there are no limits to explaining and allows more detailed to be shared.

I think the reason is that they haven’t adapted to college from high school study.

If a student's writing ability cannot meet their expectations, they will have trouble in many places, such as doing homework, making PPT or just expressing and showing themselves.

With the development of technology, people have more and more ways to express themselves. In the era without the Internet, people can only express themselves by writing letters or writing, but in modern times, everyone can publish their views online, whether long or short.

As university students, if we want to participate in the exploration or research of something, we must learn from the success of previous researchers so that we can recognize the thing, rather than participating in research without knowing anything. Therefore, academic reading is a crucial step.

Academic dialogue is more complex than a simple binary. A simple binary only requires two different results, but academic dialogue does not have two sides. It requires researchers to conduct continuous research and finally come up with an accurate conclusion. Therefore, academic dialogue is endless.

Due to the fact that academic dialogue is not binary and only has two sides, students should not believe in those black and white viewpoints, which is clearly inaccurate. As stated in the article, every viewpoint will have personal bias, and there can be no black and white viewpoint.

When people look at things with a decision in mind, they subconsciously ignore what doesn't make sense and focus on finding something that proves their point. Therefore, we should learn not to make decisions before we have enough information and keep a skeptical attitude at all times.

There is a development phenomenon when it comes to being a good reader stemming from students at first being limited in their knowledge in a subject area to then becoming expert academic readers by developing a stronger toolset of being able to take critical thinking into account when reading

There was a connection that faculty saw when it came to IARP scores among students such as the ones that had lower scores were not satisfied with their reading skills. This can also be connected to writing where those who tend to not excel well in writing essays especially feel discouraged

There is a known paradox when it comes to academic reading and what Undergraduates think about it. Saying that reading is essential yet undergraduates don’t read when they deem unnecessary. This is similar to writing where student’s say that writing isn’t always necessary yet call it important

First off, Meg reveals a contradiction between students’ views on reading and their habits on reading, particularly in the sense that they acknowledge that it is important, but still do not actively engage in it. This highlights a fundamental disconnection between what students believe, and what students actually practice as undergraduate students.

Secondly, Gorzycki researches specific factors that contribute to a student's reading habits. Some of her findings include that students do not believe that their reading is related to their academic success, time constraints, and how students focus more on grades than actually understanding the readings, and especially the belief that professors assign excessive amounts of reading for the class.

Finally, the study mentions the importance of understanding students’ viewpoints on reading academically, and underscores how teachers can learn to create more effective strategies for there to be a positive learning environment for undergraduates to further their skills in reading and literacy.
