What Caused the Salem Witch trial Hysteria

We think that the Salem Witch trial was caused by fear, power, wealth and fame. First, the fear of there actually being witches and so many people being accused scared people into actually thinking that witches could be real. The power of fear made people very nervous. The accusers were mainly women, as stated in the DBQ and as shown on the map to the left most accusers were on the west side which happens to be the poor side of the Salem community. This may mean that the poor accusers were targeting the rich. All of these points may have led to the hysteria of the Salem Witch trials, but today nobody knows.
