Live your life

I chose his slogan because I always try to make the best of it. Life is too short to worry about everything and sometimes you just need to take your time and do nothing to stand still and do what you want. This slogan applies to me because I sometimes take the time to do nothing and be myself without worrying about everything. You have to make time to do what you want to do and not to do what others want you to do. I also chose this slogan because the DJ Headhunterz made a good song named “Live your life”.

Me,
the IT apprentice

My training company is called Van Genechten Group and the IT part of the company is called NV Imas. Van Genechten Biermans is a company located in Turnhout Raadsherenstraat 2 just like Nv Imas. But there are more companies of Van Genechten located outside of Belgium. Van Genechten produces carton packaging materials for other big companies as McDonalds, Mars, ….

Before I arrived at the company I was not sure what to expect. But they introduced me to everyone and gave me a guided tour around the company and the factory. So the start was actually very nice.

In the first week I had to help Leon at the helpdesk. When someone of the office had a problem, they called us and we had to fix it. He also gave me the responsibility to do some standard installations on a Windows computer. The second week they gave me another mentor. In the second week I discovered more about software development in the company. For example, they made their own accounting software to use in the company.

I learned a lot in the two weeks I worked for Nv Imas. Everything was running very smoothly and all the colleagues were very nice to me. This training company is a recommendation for every student of 6IT. They even offered me a vacation job for in the summer and I am certainly going to take it.
