Starting with an army of about 70 personnel, Spartacus grew his numbers to approximately 100K during the Third Servile War of 73 - 71 BC. Driven by the pursuit of freedom, Spartacus would battle to the death in 71 BC, effectively ending the war.

Spartacus was chosen for his leadership and courage which would spark a rebellion and forever change the landscape of Rome.

He established the Ottonian church system of the Reich which produced the framework for generations of German politics. His ability to rule brought in the Ottonian renaissance and a flourishing Germany.

Otto I was chosen for his ability to influence change and culture. His leadership ushered in an increase in trade and communication with surrounding kingdoms while advancing intellectual growth.

Martin Luther was chosen for his drive, courage, and commitment to vision. He risked losing his career and life to ensure that God's word was better understood and to reform an overreaching religion.

He owned his own printing press, rental properties, managed multiple investments, and managed franchises in multiple states. He led social change throughout Philadelphia and was critical in raising a militia to defend the American Colonies against the French invasion. 

I chose Benjamin Franklin for various leadership qualities but specifically his resilience in the face of failure and reticule. As an inventor, he failed more times than one can count but endured over and over to form his contributions to electricity. In addition, he utilized his influence abroad to create alliances that would be pivotal in establishing America's independence.

I chose George Washington for his ability to garner the respect of those who followed him. While some leaders are placed in a position of power, others earn the title through their actions and impact on those around them.

Her leadership helped to forge a juvenile court system, improved urban sanction and factory laws, and new women labor laws. Her innovation and pursuit of justice gave her a voice for change which was pivotal in establishing new human rights laws and influencing others.

I chose Jane Addams for various achievements and leadership roles. Her passion for change and justice enabled her to head the Women's Peace Party and eventually become president of the International Congress of Women.

He empowered women by hiring them as editors in his weekly magazine, founded a charity to help vulnerable women, and gave people hope through stories that invoked thought and change. His popularity and influence allowed him to advocate on a global stage for improved living and working conditions in poverty-stricken areas.
I chose Charles Dickens for his ability to empower others. Not only was this done in his writing, but he demonstrated it in his various causes. His literature is still used today in school settings and is capable of transcending his time.

One of his biggest changes was working within NATO where he navigated political tensions while revamping his organization to become one of the most productive teams in history.

I chose James Mattis for his views on servant leadership and his charisma. He used his position to empower those who worked for him and strengthened whatever cause he pursued.

Though technology can be a huge ally in leadership, navigating issues like leading on a geographically separated stage will only continue to grow. Ten years from now technologies like artificial intelligence will cause new leadership struggles and ethical dilemmas which leaders will need to learn to navigate. By 2050 the rise of foreign powers and the further development of cyber warfare will become a greater concern, as it will impact leaders in every government, business, and home. Leaders will need to know how to adapt to these new competencies across fast-changing arenas, have confidence in ambiguous situations, and constantly increase their tech-savviness to stay competitive and capable.
