After two years of consistency, T was reading bigger chapter books than you've ever read!

Remember, when you empower students you'll want to teach them about a growth mindset so that they never feel like they can't. Instead empowering is providing the tools (both thinking and learning) and being available to guide, redirect, pick back up and praise.

Everyday won't be easy, but as long as their excited to learn, then you've got this!
Farhana

“‘Empowerment’ is about helping students figure out what they can do for themselves.” (George Couros) Remember, students need to take ownership in their learning and need to see the value in what they are learning. You are there to facilitate a journey of discovery that is theirs, not yours. Help them explore, to gain resiliency and grit to overcome stumbles, and to enjoy the process of learning.

Geoff

Remember that even during the most difficult times in your career; reverting back to overly structured and controlling behavior through praise never helped you or your students in the long run. What helps the most is being open minded, empowering students with tools to learn themselves as you had to do for yourself at their age. Be patient and be open to their hopes, desires and ideas.
-Curtis

Pedro, you must continue to: Put your students first, even when someone else does not think so. Remember that today the only goal is to be/do better than yesterday. Embrace the challenge without fear of failure. Empower students to see in them the gifts they already possess. Model hope, empathy, kindness, understanding, perseverance, acceptance and the desire succeed. Remind students that they have got a friend in you for the journey. Have high expectations of your students, but do not abandon them to meet them on their own.

A wise person named William Arthur Ward stated that “the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates but the great teacher inspires”. Sheldon you must continue to inspire in order to create the type of outcomes and relationships that you will be proud of.

Sheldon

You were committed to your students and had personal relationships with them and encouraged them to be excited about something. Now that all interaction is online, don't forget to continue doing that. Give your students the (online) tools to find their passions, and give them that (air) high five when they're excited about something new. One day, you'll be in a real classroom again.

Dear future Yannick, Remember that it is always about the students. All students coming into our schools seek to be noticed, recognized and valued. Continue to get to know every student that sets foot in your classroom or that you coach soccer to. Listen to their hopes and dreams, their interests and their needs. Doing so will help you continue to put your students first. Putting them first means allowing them to be owners of their own learning. Remember that you are here to empower your students by providing them with the opportunity to choose, by encouraging collaboration with their peers, by allowing them to reflect on their own learning and by asking them for their input.
