Wednesday March 15th

We went to a Fontys Internatiuonal University. First there was a conference about intercultural relationships, body language and prejudices. Then we played a game. In groups of about 10 people we had to build a lego wall with specific indication to follow which were different for each student but we could not speak. In this activity I have learned the great importance of the skills of ORAL COMMUNICATION and of TEAM WORKING and PROBLEM SOLVING and also of BODY LANGUAGE and CULTURAL DIFFERENCES.

Monday March 13th

We did a special activity with the Dutch teacher of art. It consisted in making a drawing machine with toys and other simple objects. It was an interesting activity because you had to understand the others and to make yourself understood in a group. When we finished to make this machines we took a lot of photos of the others machines. At the end of activity I have certainly improved a lot of skills:

PLANNING

DECISION MAKING

PROBLEM SOLVING

TEAM WORKING

November 27- December 3

Lots of activities at school and fun with our new friends.

This is what my class has written after the Erasmus Partners’ visit:

The transnational meeting of "Europe as a workspace" project was an opportunity to learn more about European schools.

We could see what students learn and how the school prepares them for the world of work.

We learnt that there is not only one way to learn, but there are so many types of learning, such as informal learning or non-formal learning and that some of these can give you a certification, like a diploma, while in others you only learn skills that are not certified.

We also learnt that in other countries schools have much more technological devices, for example in Denmark they use basically only computers in class. They study many scientific subjects and they have less humanities than Italy.

Moreover, we realised that there are different opinions among European students about the most important skills that a worker needs; the Modigliani students think that leadership and negotiating are indispensable for a worker, whereas most students believe that the most important qualities are being able to work in a team and solve problems.

We also noticed that the relationship that students have with their teachers is not so formal as the relationship that Italian students have with their teachers.

We also think that there are some differences between Italian schools and the rest of the European schools, because we have different cultures and different traditions, but this project can make us understand that there are so many things we could do to improve our schools and create, spread and share culture and information all over the participating countries.
