This book is a dark novel. It covers the biggest genocide in history from the point of view of Art Spielgelman’s father. It tells the tale of how he survived the holocaust. It is an amazing must read for all young adults I rate this a good 5/5.

I think all the characters in Maus are very fleshed out. Everyone has a time where they get to shine, and you can really tell the the author was being as true to their characters as possible, and doesn’t water things down.

The art in Maus fleshes out the emotions of characters very well. For example, on page 62, the color blocking changes to predominantly white, to shaded with an black, and the characters eyes bulge out of their head to show the fear in them. This happens multiple times throughout the book. Also, the choice to make the Jewish characters mice and the nazis cats helps show how trapped they felt.

One of my favorite stylistic choices in Maus was how the artist portrayed jews as mice and germans as cats. It really emphasizes how jews had to run and hide from the germans hunting them, like mice fleeing from cats. It also emphasizes how it seemed to the jews that they were powerless and couldn’t fight the germans, just like how a mouse is powerless against the germans. All they could do was run and hide.

Another thing I liked about maus was the chapter covers. The artist’s talent particularly shined here, especially on page 71. The nooses tightening around the mice’s necks perfectly symbolises how the jews were running out of options for hiding and running from the germans. It also references how the jews were hung on page 83.

Jujutsu Kaisen (呪術廻戦) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018, with its chapters collected and published in 21 tankōbon volumes as of December 2022. The story follows high school student Itadori Yuji as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eliminate a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host. To begin, the series provides action, adventure, and comedy with a dash of drama and mystery to spice up the plot. Jujutsu Kaisen, like any other shonen series, features plenty of fights and action-packed rivalries that amp up the tension. The pacing in Jujutsu Kaisen is perfect. No other anime manages to introduce a long list of intriguing characters, explain a complex power system, play with anime tropes and set up future seasons as smoothly as Jujutsu Kaisen.

I think that it is doing a really good job of fleshing out a lot of the characters, I really like that the chapters come from different perspective. You can tell the the author has improved a lot with writing action scenes. There was a 3 chapter long battle, not even at the end of my book, that managed to keep me intrigued the whole time

While I really love Mare shunning Cal(he deserves it). I wish we got more of Cals perspective on this. The story is told through the view of female characters, but I really wish Cal had another conversation with Evangeline, since they are basically parallel characters. Same with Mare, I really wish she talked with Gisa. Lastly, I wish we got more Maven. He’s the main villain, but he’s only been in a couple chapters so far.

It is also a comedic spin on revealing the hypocrisy of the communist leaders. It was very interesting trying to figure out what each aspect of the story was relating to in history. I enjoyed reading it very much and would rate it 8/10.

Evangeline is a very important character in the Red Queen sires. She starts of the series as a villain, being Mare’s rival. We don’t see much of her in Glass Sword, but when we do, she’s only trying to kill our protagonists. However, in King’s Cage, we learn more about her. It is revealed that she has a secret girlfriend, most of what drives her is protecting her loved ones. In War Storm, she joins an alliance with Mare, and helps show us the the system also hurts silvers. She also serves as a mediator between Cal and Mare, and helps the, realize that they love each other.

The Admiration of Jenna Fox is a very interesting novel, and I think one of the best parts of it is it’s clear lack of a villain. Jenna’s parents do serve as antagonists, but their motivations are understandable, and in many stories would be considered good actions. Every character feels like a real person, especially Jenna. Having the story set in first person really helps us understand and sympathize with Jenna, even if we cant relate to her experiences.
