The First Pillar (Faith)

Also known as the "Shahada", is the Muslim Idea and the first of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims believes that nothing could be worshipped except for Allah himself. It must be worshipped, Muslims say "nothing deserves worship except God and Muhammad is the messenger of God." Once when they wake up and once before they go to sleep. They must say it once in their lifetime with full understanding of what it means. Pretty much this pillar is saying that Allah has no compare, no one shall worship anyone else, or anyone with him. Allah is everything. I chose this picture because it shows the name of the first pillar as well as the writing.

The Second Pillar (Prayer)

The second pillar or "Salah" is essentially the daily prayer routine for Muslims. The prayers are preformed 5 times a day. Each prayer can typically take around 5 minutes to preform, but it varies depending on the persons wishes. Muslims do this to start their day of clean, and to get closer to god. This shows the value of faith, and how peaceful the Muslim people are. They remove themselves from daily happenings in order to become one with god in the sense that Allah is above everything else. I chose this picture because it shows a group of Muslim people praying inside a Mosque.

Charity is not just a recommendation to the Islamic people. It is an essential part of the religion and must be done. Islam encourages the sharing of wealth with others and helps people to stand on their own and become productive members of the society. Zakat is pretty much in a way a Thanksgiving to the gods by helping those who need help. Being rich is considered a gift from Allah himself. It is said that god will reward you if you give to the people who cannot afford. But the money can only be used for specific things based on Islamic law. I chose this picture because it is money with a bowtie on it. Showing how money is a gift from god like I said earlier. That money in this religion is a privilege.

The Fourth Pillar (Ramadan)

Ramadan is the Ninth month of the Islam calendar. This means that people of the Muslim religion fast from sunrise to sundown. Ramadan doesn’t start on the same date each year and instead, over time, passes through all the seasons. Ramadan is celebrated as the month during which Muhammad received the initial revelations of what became the Quran. They are also supposed to not drink, smoke, or participate in sexual behaviors. Fasting is supposed to like show respect and cleanse the soul. Also to pay respects to the people who cannot obtain food as well. Almost like the giving thing, its to acknowledge people who need more than you. All muslims who have reached puberty are required to fast on these days. I chose this picture here because it shows that no food or drink is allowed. Much like when you fast you cannot eat or drink.

The Fifth Pillar (Hajj)

Hajj is a once in a lifetime experience if you are Muslim and something you must participate in before you die. It is pretty much the mass migration to Mecca. It consists of thousands of people walking in circles in so called "The house of god" in Saudi Arabia, built in worship of god. Everyone dressed the same, and no one would be able to tell your wealth, or who you were. It was a bunch of Muslims coming together in the name of their one and only god Allah. In the heart of the "House of god" is a meteorite whomst everyone kisses, as a way to pay respects to Allah, in their belief, the only reason the Meteor came down was because of Allah himself. I chose this picture because it shows the immense amount of people who participate in this event. It is considered dangerous at times, people can get trampled at times, and a crane came down one time. But people still participate, in worship of Allah.
