From what I gathered from the poem is that the person has lives a lonely dark life, but sees something bright and nice in the distance. Instead of going to this better life he instead leans back in the hammock and says, "I have wasted my life." I believe this poem is related to depression because of the lack of motivation to have a better life. Even though I do not have depression, I can still relate to this poem. I go to school and work, hangout with my girlfriend and friends but with my free time, I do nothing. I completely agree with this, there's no way things can evolve and become better if we don't change. People who don't want change just slow down the process. Even though the content in this video doesn't relate to me very much I can still see it. In the video he practically says school is geared towards one type of student, the person who wants to go to college and get a nice job. While some people don't want to have a life like that. I've personally seen it with a lot of my friends, they question why they're learning this when they'll never have to use it. The idea of the poem is something that I agree with, people try to stop you from doing something or labeling you as different but they're honestly just haters. I'm not going to let anybody tell me that I can't be something or do something.
