Eliza Doolittle is a poor person living in London(Victorian Age) in the poor part of the city and was sent away from home at an early age to go and find a husband. Eliza hasn't found a husband and lives in a small apartment in the slums of London(the poorest and dirtiest place in London) that is super simple. She sleeps with her only set of clothes on and her only dress as a blanket because her apartment does not even have heating. She works as a flower girl for a flower shop and barely makes make ends meet. While she is selling flowers she is told by a person that she better give that man a flower because he thinks that Eliza is a prostitute. She also notices a man writing down everything that she is saying and thinks he is a cop that will arrest her but really the man is just a linguist. Eliza the next day went to Higgins's house and was willing to pay for speech lessons to be promoted from a flower girl to shopkeeper. Eliza ends up getting free lessons because Higgins and his partner Col. Pickering place a bet and if they can pass her off at the Ambassadors Garden Party that they would pay for her lessons.
