week 1: initial thoughts and ideas

Record my feeling and initial thoughts about this course and assignment. At first, i am excite to doing this, like recording all my feeling about this course, and design how to sell my product to people. While i sharing my interesting things to other people and try to let them like it, it is a excited challenge to me, especially when other people turn to like my hobby or favorite product, i would feel like i complete a good things for my love, and can knew one more friend who will have more topic to discuss. In addition, for those new ability and skills, i may can use in my future, so i am great with that course.

week2: Creative Thinking and Research

This week, i just focus on the 80 products or topics which i had explored, and connect with my next step, how to creative a nice video for my product. Therefore, i did a lot of research and identify which one is more suitable to complete. Well, finally, music let me remember that movie which i watched it before, so i think the vinyl recored is a nice choose, and also i enjoy to know about this beautiful product in human music history, then, as i clear as i like this kind of player in next few days.

The iconic radio waves album cover…if it were only for that we’d still probably include this on the list, but wait! There’s more! (sorry shakes head) the music is immense. Described as “doomy,” “bleak,” “heavy,” the English post-punk band was initially disappointed in the production feeling it sounded too much like Pink Floyd. Regardless, they went along with Martin Hennett’s crazy ear and we all benefitted. An immersive musical experience best enjoyed via a wax disc and good speakers or headphones.

VINYL ALBUM Straight Outta Compton

Straight Outta Compton was good for the time it came out but Niggaz4Life is timeless. N.W.A takes everything to the next level for this album. To me Straight Outta Compton got worse after Gangsta Gangsta with few other tracks standing out. Niggaz4Life from beginning to the end is very compelling whether its the production to the raps. The production is definitely galaxies beyond Straight Outta Compton. Where Straight Outta Compton was in some ways influenced by the east coast Niggaz4Life is a west coast album through and through. The lyrics is where people become divided at. N.W.A is known and remembered for social awareness thrown with some gangster rap. However on this album its gone and replaced with hilarious but violent simple gangster rap. Some people find this as a down grade but I'm fine with it. Because of that I consider this to be N.W.As crowning achievement and set the standard for the rest of the 90s gangsta rap scene. Influencing everything from The Chronic to Life After Death.

week 4: A visual performance

This week, teacher had play a video teach how to create a nice video in YouTube. Before this play, i only knew a video is important in the composition, but also the light, depth, sound, clothes, and even the environment for film, both of them to consist a video is necessary.
Besides, i just doing the pallet for Assignment 1, meanwhile, i got a lots information about the vinyl record, to discover how great is that music play, and the sound quality is close to perfect, like the musical instruments playing.

There are legendary albums, then there are albums full of legend. The second and final release by the Jeff Mangum-led indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel belongs to an exceptionally rare breed of album that confidently straddles both. The dreamy turn-of-the century sound (organ, accordion, brass, pipes) and accompanying album art alone provide fertile breeding grounds for a certain mystique, but the hazy connections to Anne Frank, whose diaries reportedly served as an emotional catalyst for Mangum, help push it into cult-like status. Considered by many to be one of the greatest indie rock albums of all-time, In an Aeroplane Over the Sea continues to rank among the top sellers on vinyl year after year, despite being released over 14 years ago. One might be tempted to shrug it off as indie nostalgia…don’t. The music is lo-fi indie perfection, the album artwork grandiose and lovely – but most importantly there’s an intangible weight and force to this album that makes it a must-have piece of rock history for any true fan of music.

The vinyl sound quality comparing with DVD&CD

In your home stereo the CD or DVD player takes this digital recording and converts it to an analog signal, which is fed to your amplifier. The amplifier then raises the voltage of the signal to a level powerful enough to drive your speaker.

A vinyl record has a groove carved into it that mirrors the original sound's waveform. This means that no information is lost. The output of a record player is analog. It can be fed directly to your amplifier with no conversion.

This means that the waveforms from a vinyl recording can be much more accurate, and that can be heard in the richness of the sound. But there is a downside, any specks of dust or damage to the disc can be heard as noise or static. During quiet spots in songs this noise may be heard over the music. Digital recordings don't degrade over time, and if the digital recording contains silence, then there will be no noise.

From the graph you can see that CD quality audio does not do a very good job of replicating the original signal. The main ways to improve the quality of a digital recording are to increase the sampling rate and to increase the accuracy of the sampling.

The recording industry has a new standard for DVD audio discs that will greatly improve the sound quality. The table below lists the sampling rate and the accuracy for CD recordings, and the maximum sampling rate and accuracy for DVD recordings. DVDs can hold 74 minutes of music at their highest quality level. CDs can also hold 74 minutes of music. By lowering either the sampling rate or the accuracy, DVDs can hold more music. For instance a DVD can hold almost 7 hours of CD quality audio.

week 3: Building a mind map and website

This week, i learn how to design a website by Smultron, and learnt about HTML coding, put it into practice in the tutorial, moreover, i listen more vinyl record, even this isn't belong me (i listen it in some cafe and record store).
Beside, i watched other people's website did, and thinking which style belong me, and hold for my product. Anyway this time, i learnt a website for building, doesn't need the context only, even some fun typeface paring is necessary.

The target audience toward music lover, or some one pursue a high quality music. Due to modern people tend to carry easy things or simple cheaper choose, so this big heavy record machine is not as crazy things in market. Vinyl made a major comeback in the mid 2008 and I don’t think the format will become extinct any time soon. According to an industry tracker (Niolson), vinyl record sales reached 1.9 million units in 2008, and then grew to 2.5 million in 2009, to 2.8 million in 2010, to 3.6 million in 2011 (projected).
