         <title>Intergenerational divides writ large: Brexit</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/640yx5m0rx/On_the_Day_FINAL_poll_forwebsite.pdf">YouGov reported</a> that <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/24/meet-the-75-young-people-who-voted-to-remain-in-eu">75% of 18- to 24-year-olds</a> and 56% of 25- to 49-year-olds voted in favour of remain, versus 44% of 50- to 64-year-olds and 39% of those over 65, the extent of the generational gulf between Generation Y and the so-called baby boomers and their parents has been palpable.&nbsp;<br>The age based split of the voters in the EU referendum has been subject to ongoing debates.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In period 2013 - 2015, nearly 3,000 people aged 45-64 benefitted from the Government-supported pilot.  The reviews were delivered by 17 partners including the National Careers Service Prime Contractors, voluntary organisations, learning providers, Unionlearn, Workplace Learning Advocates and Community Learning Champions. They covered employment, training, financial planning and health issues, particularly focussed on people out of work, facing redundancy, or wanting to adapt to a new way of working.          <title>Avoiding the demographic crunch: labour supply and the ageing workforce</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Over 30% of people in employment in the UK are over the age of 50, and there are unlikely to be enough younger people entering the labour market to replace this group when they leave the workforce, taking their skills and experience with them. This study, by the<a href="http://www.ilcuk.org.uk/index.php/publications/publication_details/avoiding_the_demographic_crunch"><strong> International Longevity Centre</strong></a> (ILC-UK) and the<a href="http://www.cipd.co.uk/publicpolicy/policy-reports/demographic-crunch-labour-supply-ageing.aspx"><strong> CIPD</strong></a>, brings to light the challenges the UK faces over the coming two decades. As a result, the CIPD is urging organisations across all sectors to take steps now to reap the benefits of a more age diverse workforce, rather than fall victim to a mass exodus of skills as their workforce ages.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The Employer Toolkit is a new interactive resource, offering guidance for managers of older workers.  The information available details how employers can better manage their workforce, and by doing so, how they can capitalise on the UK’s changing demographics.<br><br>The Toolkit includes information relating to the 3 ‘R’s highlighted by the Government’s former Business Champion for Older Workers, Dr Ros Altmann CBE. These are retaining, retraining and recruiting older workers. Information is also included on a range of other topics including legal requirements, knowledge management and flexible working arrangements.<br><br>Guidance is currently available on a general level, and further information will be released to reflect the realities of working within different sectors.<br><br></div>]]></description>
