During the symposium, it transpired that there is a great need for an informal place and space to discuss care and parenthood, as well as to exchange tips and initiatives. This is why Mirthe Berentsen set up the WhatsApp group ‘Sharing is caring’.

For documenta fifteen the ground floor of Fridericianum turns into RURUKIDS, a safe space designed especially for children, with many fun and creative activities that encourage children to explore arts and culture. It is a place for sharing knowledge, meeting new friends, playing, relaxing, and co-creating. The space is open to all children and parents to enjoy the playing area, special projects, library room, and screenings.

Concept

Due to the wide gap in being able to participate in residency programs as an artist with a child, we are countering this and inviting artists to spend time together with their (reference) child(ren) and together as a group in the Haus des Wandels, to work on their own artistic projects or to develop something together and try out different formats of co-parenting. Free work alternates with shared moments. Discovering and designing the place together, eating in the garden, exchanging ideas and networking.

Children are explicitly invited, as children are usually not welcome or complicated in residency programs for artists.
