This picture strikes a chord with me. The movie of the month in my household is The Lorax and in the movie it shows about how a man cuts down all of the trees making life impossible without artificial ways of breathing and people being blind to what is happening around them. It makes you realize that the movie depicts what is happening in real life. Deforestation, and cities becoming more congested are doing exactly what The Onceler did, depleted the natural way to receive something vital that we as a species need to survive.

Whenever I hear Photosynthesis, I think of this scene from Sponge-bob and instantly connect that to all of the information that I have ever learned about Photosynthesis. In math class in 11th grade we had to rap the quadratic formula and guess who can still rap it if she needs too! (it's me). I am a very visual person, a visual learner and I love to connect something to something else that is educational. Surrounded by water, Sponge-bob has a plethora of nutrients via the suns radiant light and can absorb all of them because he is a sponge!

Briófitos, Spanish moss! Spanish moss is found in Savannah, Georgia with its live oaks, and Gothic drapes of Spanish moss. Its most active growth period is during the spring and summertime, with a bloom period in late summer. Its taxonomic name is Tillandsia usneoides, it is a non fire-resistant moss that does not actually sprout anything it just grows and covers Savannah in a curtain of moss dubbing it the forest city. In order for the moss to thrive it needs to be in a climate that is above 22 degrees Fahrenheit, which is great news because not only is it found in Georgia, but it is found all throughout the southeast.

The Indigenous Temperate Grasslands are the Earth's Biome that covers 8% of the world. It is however having to always cradle and adapt to the changes humans are making it on earth making it the most endangered of the biomes. Continuously changing and having to adapt to what we are doing to it will eventually make it extinct. Only 3.4% of the biome is actually protected, but how long until we take it over? Continuously expanding, deforestation and general destruction of our planet and ecosystems will cause us as a species to eventually cause enough damage that we will have to adapt and change what we are doing because we killed something that helped us survive all this time. Like Wall-e if you have ever seen that movie.

11,000 BCE, timing uncertain, but the results were amazing. Climate change from the Ice Age were believed to have started it all, causing areas to be warm and well irrigated for crops. Without all of this occurring we would not have been able to grow from a few hundred to 7 billion. Everything was riding on us as a species adapting and creating other food sources to survive and thrive the way we have. Without sedentary living and agriculture, our technology and societal changes would not have occurred.

The Green Revolution was a world wind of new to farmers all over. Going from hand held to fossil fueled farming technology impacted farmers everywhere. One of the inventions that was a global spread was fossil fuel lead large scale irrigation. This allowed farmers to irrigate massive sections of their crops faster for more efficient farming.

It was a game changer as it was the first to fight off bacterial infections, from strep to syphilis.

From one of my favorite films, I present Wall-e. Wall-e is a movie about humans going on a space cruise because they have basically depleted the resources on Earth but they are unaware of the damage the have done. That is us. We keep using and using and using, but not giving back to our Earth and giving it the love it needs to thrive after the present generations leave it. The more we take the less it has to give and eventually the resources will deplete and we will be forced to figure out a new way to live, or die off as a species.
