I remember the first time I listened to it I cried (and I'm not really a crier), it was just so moving and I felt that the lyrics (yes even though based on the popular story Peter Pan) were moving and that I could relate to them. The lyrics were almost a sense of escape from the current problems I was experiencing and made me focus on the positive. I feel that this song can describe how I am, I can be the "lost boy" running away from "Captain Hook" (being the issues that arise in my life). However, this song also brings out my childhood love for the Disney movie, "Peter Pan", which I loved as a little girl. I see this ritual as a stepping stone in my faith journey. I was so excited to welcome another person into our family. Three years later, I have two sisters-in-law (my other brother got married the year before Tom's wedding, and had a baby girl last year!) and three nieces (Tommy and his wife had twins last year!).
