There are different kinds of comics that you can enjoy.
The most popular in western cultures is the American comics and in the Eastern culture is the manga.
Both styles are recognized in the whole world. It is marketed in Colombia like a little faring . Nevertheless is easier find American comics, magazines, books, indumentaries even stream tv shows about it; than Manga's magazines by the reason that in our country, the japanese reading is not stronger despite that it is taken strong and became a little popular here. That's the most common styles of commics know however it has story since B.C.
P1 In this article you will find the origins of the comic and what about its transition along the years. To start speaking about precursors it's weel to name the Trojan's column dedicated to the Roman emperors. When they won the war as a war of narrative told through pictures in secuence with coherence. It seems like the egyptians and it hieroghyps. However, the egyptians have done it with other purposes also to make a dedicatory to their pharaons; for example how to do rituals, a recipe, a history of their goods, etc. 
The Bible; for instance, in its first version has made on images expanded in Europe and it is the way to teach the cristianity to the writers or literates, on consecuence it brings the development of the modern printing and the content of the printing was about religious content however by passing time the religion change to other topics like political and social life  in a joking sense.
P2 One of the pioneers of comic was William Hogarth. He has created seven secuencial pictures in canvas and it was related to Industrial Revolution. Magazines and Newspaper becoming the road for the artists, who work hardly in the illustartion and established the cartoon. In 19th century established the narrative over a number of images into the comic strip, next to it, the speech ballon was identified like a feature to explain the purpose of the image secuence. It was rather used into the cartoons establishing a new style.
P3 In Britain; the market of comics had started with the humor for young population or children, in Belgium born the famous newspaper "The adventures of Tin Tin" it was succesfully. USA expand the idea with a little bit of fantasy, action, and funny stories followed by a market of comic books where it has printed in a original style of canvas showed in the moment. The first sample was Comics #1 where talks abputSuperman and established the new american style represented with superheroes its keeping popular since the 50's  as a far.
P4 Post  WWII ( World War II) Osuma Tezuka turn the comic to his own style and he called it Manga, influenced by Disney animations. The Manga has a bunch of genres from Romance, child adventures, fantasy, throught adult fantasies.
Japanese Manga is tipically published in deep stories and it has its own animation called Anime, it last named is more popular than Manga. The creator likes to work in both ways and try to keep the plot linking in Anime and Manga.
P5 By other hand, the comic writers and illustrators decide to launch editorials to publish the comics. Nevertheless, in the 21th century the population rather to use web platforms by the reason that it is cheaper for the readers and them enjoy reading and finding easier.
