1. Poet Introduction

CA Conrad is an American Poet born in 1966. They went on to also become a professor and author of seven books. I chose CA Conrad because I found the first poem of theirs that I read to be beautifully written. In their picture, I also loved the way they dressed themselves in crystals and layered earthy clothing (reminded me of hippies). I didn't pick them because of how they dress, but how their clothing also reflects the free spirit I imagined in their writing.

Powerful Line: "how the smallest puddle reflects the entire sky"
This line spoke to me because it made me look inwards. One interpretation I found was how all our actions or small acts of kindness can mean the world and make up who we are as a whole. The line also make me think of the saying "we are only as strong as our weakest link." The small puddle represents how every individual around you is a representation of the community or family (that can be positive or negative).

This poem addresses the violence against the LGBTQ community. It reads passionately and angry towards the injustice that is very powerful. I loved the title Glitter in My wounds because it acknowledges that there has been a lot of hurt and discrimination but a power rising from it. For me, the glitter symbolizes defiantly showing strength and true authenticity through all the hate.

This poem was written for someone named Anne Waldman but it speaks to a larger audience. This poem is for anyone down on their luck or feeling like they cannot go on. It is for people who are oppressed and are trying to find an escape instead of addressing it. It is empowering towards the end of the poem when the writing bursts of power and overcoming hardship.
