Jordan was really patient and had always the talent to put you a smile while you were struggling with your “creation”. That’s why I learned a few things about the job of teaching - patience no matter what and probably I will be more empathetic with my students when they do not understand something, however easy it seems to me, to avoid frustration.

As I was weaving my bowl today I realized how many factors the citizens of Guadeloupe have to consider in their daily lives which force them to be flexible. Some are out of there control like not knowing if the museum will be open today or not. They also have to deal with natural factors like working with and not against the weather. They may also deal with cultural factors like mentalities, their own or others which may interfere with their ability to realize their goals in life. The list goes on and on.

Working with the leaves inspired me to reconsider some of my flexibility. Reconsidering my priorities and taking back my time to live my life…

As a teacher, it is good to find yourself in a situation where you can put yourself in the shoes of students who are worried about failing. How important it is then to have a teacher who encourages, is patient, caring and humorous. One such person for me today was definitely Jordan, who carried everyone along. He gave the feeling of really engaging with everyone. 
Good to see that he is happy to share his knowledge wholeheartedly.

Jordan was the best teacher of our unique weaving craft imaginable. Patient, caring, appreciative and motivating, he managed to teach us to be 100% successful in our craft. Anyone would love to have such a teacher! Unfortunately, my classes are very large and it is not always possible to devote enough time to each student. I am proud of my beautiful product made from coconut leaves. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal at the Mervillon restaurant afterwards. An insider tip from Jordan, whom we met again in the afternoon. Jordan said that to me and somebody else. I found myself being impatient with the situation itself and also myself and furthermore not believing that the outcome will be positive and successful but giving up easily. I want from now on tell myself - and also my students when they are in a situation like this - more often B-R-E-A-T-H-E as it sometimes olis magic. Jordan believed in our 💯 % success and had no significant doubt about it. He went from student to student in his circle and when someone was impatient like me and interfered, he or she had to wait until his or her turn came! After this inspiring teacher who for almost three decades purely lives what he does my next grand teacher and inspirer was nature, in particular the sea 🌊 with the shores, its own rhythm 🎶, its strength and power. I loved to watch two pelicans fishing on their “flightmode”. They were in their element and 💯 % focused and live the MOMENT! It was an impressive day for our Group. Not only to be together but to learn together with individual progress. We changed our teacher-position with the position of pupils. I had to accept that perhaps an other one some things are able to make better, more quickly…
Jordan was an example for great responsibility of adults (not only teachers): we have to wait, to support…. and then to accept the result! Everyone has his own level and this to increase is the aim.

It was a real big challenge for me - and the biggest part of this result was Jordan‘s to be honest. His way of patiently helping, giving you the feeling you do a good job no matter what he really sees impressed me very much. Sometimes I forget at school to be patient because of the circumstances like number of pupils , pressure of time etc. - but I should remember and change it when possible. Not all the student have the same abilities and skills - and this is natural - but to give the possibilities to find out their ressources themselves and to be the motivator, the assistant- this is a daily challenge and task in our school live. 
I couldn’t imagine to be successful with the basket but I was - to get the same result with the students nevertheless what they try is my refreshed knowledge of the day.

The mentality, the "savoir vivre", thé Tranquillity that most of us miss in our lives and in our jobs is the best thing to remind me on where to focus. Serenity is not my strength but I'm trying to work on it. Especially working with children I need do look on the individuals. For me it was a great experience doing something I haven't done before.
