She made a quilt to help people escape to freedom. I was in awe of how a girl could use a quilt as a map of the Underground Railroad and her determination to help others. This can teach smaller groups of kids about slavery because it’s used in words they can understand. The book shows courage and problem- solving, encouraging empathy, and introducing teamwork and collaboration.
