Middle school students should read “Leather and Nothing Else” by Hernando Tellez, because they would enjoy the suspense in the conflict and laugh at the irony in the resolution. The suspense in the conflict will keep the middle schoolers in anticipation. This type of figurative language will make the reader anticipate because it catches the reader’s attention. For example, in the conflict the barber is thinking “And so, which will it be? Murderer or hero? My fate hangs on the edge of this razor blade (Page 4).” This shows anticipation on what will the barber will do, will he kill Captain Torres or will he let him live? Again, middle schoolers will enjoy the suspense in the conflict.

"The Tell-Tale Heart" might not seem like much, but it is a great story for students because of its suspense, its resolution, and the main character’s motive. Middle school students will find the main character’s motive weird and intriguing. It is fun to try and be in the shoes of the main character to see what they are going through. The murderer’s motives were interesting as he killed the old man for no logical reason. His reasoning was that the old man had a very strange eye, and that he couldn’t stand it, so it’s interesting to see why he would go so far to stalk him every night and them kill him. For middle school students, the murderer’s motives will be a good reason for them to continue reading the story.

If all middle school students read “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, they would enjoy it for its’ apprehensive rising action and mysterious storyline. The suspense and mystery adding rising action completely captures the interest of middle school students. This type of rising action adds suspense, grabs the reader's attention which causes the reader to keep reading. For instance, it is quite peculiar that the murderer sneaks into the old man's house, “Every night about twelve o’clock I slowly opened his door. and when the door was opened… And I stood there quietly. For seven nights I did this, seven long nights, every night at midnight. (Page 2)” This demonstrates suspense, because the murderer repeatedly sneaks into the room, which causes the reader to wonder when or if the murderer will kill the old man. Clearly the baffling rising action is the most intensifying element in the story.

Also the twist in that story is there to shock the reader and bring suspense into the story. When the old man looked at me with his vulture eye a cold feeling went up and down my back; even my blood became cold.” page 1-2.This shows how descriptive the writing is because it gives indepth details about the old man’s eye and how it makes the murderer feel about it. Conflict is a story element that is when two opposing forces disagree creating a protagonist and an antagonist. For example, in the story the conflict leads to when she finds the dead body rotting in the woods. This shows how the conflict added mystery because it makes you wonder how he died and why he was left to rot in the woods. Remember that the conflict is the most mysterious element in the story.

"The Flowers"The conflict in “The Flowers” is a good attention grabber. Conflict is known to be a problem in the story or known as a turning point. For example, the conflict in the story Myop runs into the dead man in the woods. This shows suspense because it does not provide a lot of information to solve the mystery. Remember, the conflict in this story can catch a lot of people’s attention.

“The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe would make for a great reading experience for middle school students because of its suspense in rising actions and its interesting main character. The suspense in the climax of this story keeps middle school readers at the edge of their seat. A suspenseful story is for sure an attention grabber because it excites the reader and creates uncertainty, which makes a story exhilarating. For instance, "And as the sound grew louder my anger became greater and more painful. But it was more than anger" creates anticipation and unpredictability. This demonstrates uneasy tension because the reader is unaware of what the murderer is to do next. All in all, this story is sure to catch a reader’s interest due to its anticipation.

Middle school students will like the tell tale heart by Edgar Allan Poe because of its skilled use of characterization and description in the exposition and rising action.

I think that the story tell-tale heart is a good read for middle schoolers because of its good use characterization throughout the story. The characterization is used to show how the character acts and how the character feels about what happens in the story. For example, the main character states, “The illness has made my mind, my feelings, my senses stronger… I heard sounds from heaven; and heard sounds from hell.” showing that the main character is not very sane and he doesn’t realize it. The main character keeps this trait throughout the whole story until they descend to murder and later get caught by the police and put into a hospital. Edgar Allan Poe did a great job on making the tell tale heart appealing to middle schoolers by using characterization.

THESIS STATEMENT
“Tell -Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe would be a great reading experience for middle-schoolers because of the explosive resolution , as well as the unique and unorthodox characters.
PARAGRAPH 1
The odd characters are a new aspect that will shock students. The protagonist is usually the hero of story, but not in “Tell-Tale Heart”. It is baffling when our main character says “So I am mad, you say? You should have seen how careful I was to put the body where no one could find it. First I cut off the head, then the arms and the legs (paragraph 12).” This shows how the main character is crazy because he stalked this innocent old man in the night for seven days, and then tormented him in his final moments. Edgar Allen Poe’s “Tell-Tale Heart” has remarkably unique characters that will appeal to middle-school readers.

Readers tend to enjoy stories with suspense because of the way it makes them feel. For example, when the old man sat straight up in bed and cried out, ”Who’s there??! (Page 65).” This demonstrates that the rising action is thick with tension, and it causes the readers to feel uneasy. Obviously, the suspense in this rising action will appeal to all middle school readers.

In order to make an exciting reading experience for middle schoolers, they have to be interested in what they’re reading.Junior high students love stories that they can relate to, and comprehend easily. “The Sniper” provides suspense, cliffhangers, and a easily comprehensible storyline, which is perfect for middle school students. Case in point, when the republican sniper took the risk to look at who he killed, readers are on the edge of their seat when they find out “ the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother´s face.”When they’re on the edge of their seats like that, they want to learn more about the story and eventually read another one. So you see, and good story will turn into a domino effect. Which is why The Sniper is quintessential for middle school students.

For example, the plot is about an insane guy murdering an old guy, the insane guy also claims that how “ healthy his mind is (P2)”.

Thesis: Mystery loving readers will fall in love with the Flowers for its' imagery in the falling action and exposition, the shocking climax, and the abrupt resolution.
Paragraph:
The imagery in falling action and exposition gives mystery loving readers hidden clues to make a conclusion. Imagery allows the reader to visualize what’s happening in the story and give hints to what may have occurred that the character may not realize. For example, the detail of the injuries on the corpse and it’s surroundings, the setting hinted in the exposition, and the vivid description of the scene leads to several conclusions. The imagery helps readers make a conclusion because the reader can infer that the death was either a homicide or suicide based on visualization. Because of this, mystery lovers will enjoy searching for the clues throughout the story and trying to infer what happened.
