Throughout the story, storms have been pivotal moments as they mark something major occurring, such as the boat collapsing and sparking his journey out at sea. This leads to him building a connection with the island that will stunt his ability to leave it so quickly when he realizes its true carnivorous nature. The storm on the island foreshadows its true carnivorous and toxic nature of it; therefore, it harbors deep secrets within the leaves of its fruit.
