On February 18th, a 44-year-old farmer became sick and was later diagnosed with bird flu. According to some sources, he came in contact with a dead foul and later developed the illness. After being tested, doctors soon found that it was a new variant of the virus. Soon after, the WHO went through with testing virus samples for vaccines.

On February 7th, the US and Iraq began a new military campaign called an "offensive." The Iraqi troops tried to elevate security in Baghdad to stop increasingly fatal attacks from the US military. On February 18, at least 60 people die from a bomb that went off in a crowded market in Baghdad. On February 25, another bomb went off at Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, killing about 40 people, most of whom were students.
This is important because I had no idea about any of this happening. This reminds me that so much happens that nobody really hears about.
