What is Chickenpox?
- Chickenpox is a Viral, highly infectious disease caused by varicella-zoster virus. One of the key identifying components of Chickenpox is the blister-like rash that it will give those who are infected with the disease. The virus is said to be highly infectious because in instances where individuals have no previous immunity to Chickenpox, it is said that up to 90% of people who come into close contact with an infected individual will then subsequently become diseased as well.

According to CDC's webpage on Chickenpox, the number one method for prevention of the Chickenpox virus is through vaccines. Since 1995, when the Chickenpox vaccination became available in the United States, it is estimated to save thousands of lives and prevent millions of cases annually.
If vaccination is not available, then distancing yourself from individuals who are infected with the virus is the 2nd way that Chickenpox can be effectively prevented.
Treatment
There are a multitude of different options for the treatment of Chickenpox that an individual can do at home. Mainly, these include medications and other substances that can help to relieve the severity of the symptoms that the individual may exhibit.
The CDC provides a wide variety of at-home products that many people may have to help relieve the itchiness of the skin infection that accompanies Chickenpox. Another point that the CDC makes is to keep your fingernails trimmed because of the fact that you may be itching the sores that will appear, this is done to help the individual infected with Chickenpox to prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Diagnosis
According to the CDC, there are lab tests that are available that can be performed usually using bodily fluid from one of the lesions that forms on the infected individual's body. Generally, a PCR test will be used to identify this.
Treatment
Generally, for people with a mild(er) form of Chickenpox, the use of Over-the-counter medicines are very effective in the relief of symptoms of Chickenpox.
