- The first English colony on the east coast of North America was established at Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. 

- It was originally a business endeavour by the king of England King James I. 

- The first English settlers in North America (NA) were investors in the company, all chasing a fortune. 

- A second English colony was established in 1620 in New Plymouth. A group of Puritans settled here with the intent of creating a new society where they could freely express their religious beliefs.

- The British stole cotton sugar and tobacco from the United States, which made the imperial forces exceptionally wealthy. These products became very valuable in markets.

It is called blackbirding because the people were usually underpaid and lived whilst working in both harsh environments. It started in 1847 after it was abolished by the British Empire.

Slavery was formally abolished throughout the British Empire in 1833 and then was brought over to Australia and continued for several years.

For example, between 1863 and 1904, it is estimated that about 60 000 South Pacific Islanders were brought to Australia to work in the sugarcane fields.

By 1901 there were only 10 000 people of South Pacific island origin living in Queensland.

Arrived In Sydney, Port Jackson 16 January 1973 on the Bellona. The people consisted of 5 single men and two families with a wealthy status, thus allowing them to afford the trip from Europe to Australia. 

Early free settlers were able to claim many rewards, this would have influenced them to come to Australia due to tempting bonuses such as free convicts for labour and the help from the British Government, this was further introduced as the Assisted Passage Scheme to further benefit.

Slaves were often transported to North America or Caribbean colonies (Cuba, Bahamas, Puerto Rico). Once transported, slaves were most often sold to plantation owners/farmers. The food or materials that African slaves harvested were then exported to Europe. 
It is unknown the actual number of slaves transported from Africa but it is estimated at between 12.5 million. Although, only 10.7 million made it to America without injury or death. With a maximum of 85,000 slaves transported each year.
