On January 6th, 2023, first grade teacher Abby Zwerner was shot twice in the chest and hand by a 6 year-old 1st grader. A bullet landed inches away from her heart, which still remains inside her due to the bullet being too close to the heart to remove without severe damage or death. Yesterday, Zwerner testified against the schools and the child's family in a $40 million lawsuit. Zwerner states that she "thought she was going to heaven" and recalls the boys "blank look" as he aimed and fired the 9 millimeter at Zwerner. Statements from other teachers throughout the day say that the 6 year-old was reported having the firearm which assistant principal Ebony Parker brushed off and did not act on.

They have done it around the clock, 24/7, because their mission is considered essential to public safety.

But this time, with the government shut down, they have done it all without pay.

The Hurricane Hunters are a standard feature of US storm response. Information gathered by the planes’ specialized equipment, which includes a tail-mounted doppler radar that takes a virtual CT scan of the storm, are crucial for issuing accurate forecasts and gauging storm strength in real-time.

The data, including the radar information, is fed straight into the computer models that forecasters use to predict a hurricane’s path and intensity.

Five people were arrested Thursday on charges from the 2023 overdose deaths of Robert De Niro's grandson and Chris Stein's daughter. The five new defendants ,Grant McIver, Bruce Epperson, Eddie Barreto, John Nicolas and Roy Nicolas were supposedly members of a criminal network that distributed thousands of counterfeit prescription opioid pills laced with fentanyl. According to the indictment, the fentanyl pills given by the defendants caused the deaths of three 19 year olds, including Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez and Akira Stein, who was the daughter of Chris Stein, co-founder of Blondie.
