Here are some facts about my beloved hometown : a megacity nicknamed “The City of Kings”, “The Pearl of the Pacific”, “The Three Times Crowned Ville”, most known as “Lima”.

1 – Lima is the most populated (city proper count) capital city in America with 11.3 million Limeneans as of 2024. It is also the only capital city in the continent to have 10 million (and more) proper inhabitants.

2 – Lima is the gastronomic capital of America since 2006 (awarded by the International Congress of Gastronomy in Madrid) and it is the World’s best food city since 2016 (awarded by the World's Leading Culinary Destination, known as the Oscars of Tourism & Travel).

3 – Lima was declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 1988. The megalopolis registers a total of 1 048 natural, historical and cultural official sites : 608 colonial buildings, 246 buildings from the 19th & 20th centuries, 144 monuments & landmarks and 50 streets & plazas.

4 – Historically, Lima is the capital city of the Spanish Empire in South America, making it the most important city in the subcontinent.
