Civil Rights are rights that are entitled to citizens that provide them with social freedom and equality. The National Center for Transgender Equality works to providing life-saving change for transgender people and work on a local, state and federal level to advance transgender equality. Equality Federation is a movement that advocates for the LGBTQ community. GLSEN works to make sure that kids apart of the LGBTQ community in grades k-12 have a safe environment to learn and benefit from. The LGBTQ Victory Fund is the only national organization that is working to get people of the LGBTQ community elected into all parts of the government. The National Queer and Trans Therapist of Color Network provides therapy to queer and trans people of color. All of these programs are working to advance equality for people of the LGBTQ community. All over the world there are pride walks where people of the LGBTQ community can come to together and show support for one another. The methods that people use are civil resistance, “coming out”, consciousness raising and direct action. They practice lobbying, street marches, social groups, media, art and research to achieve their goal. Homophobia is hating or having negative feelings toward homosexuality. In 1967, the Sexual Offences Act was passed saying that it was no longer illegal for two men to have sex but things didn’t change for the Armed Forces, Navy, Scotland, Northern Island, Channel Islands and the Isle of Men. In 1972, the first Pride March was held in London, bringing in around 2000 people. In 1992, the World Health Organisation declassified homosexuals as being mentally ill.
