I believe that the way of living, nowadays, can drive students to the need of improving their knowledge - skills and attitude. Learning to learn is one of the main key competences that can help on this direction.

I agree with the speaker. I believe that assessment is important for both teacher and student and is a process that can be done by the both participants in learning. Self assessment through portfolios/e-assesments and innovations can improve skills.

I feel weird watching all these wonderful examples of those amazing projects that take part in many european countries, knowing that in my country there is not a single official project that promotes competence-based education. Not only, these attempts in Greece are individual and only depend in the teacher's disposal and ambitions, but we have a terrible system where childrens are forbidden to bring laptops, tablets and smartphones at school. So, if the school doesn't have the appropriate technology to support the project needs, which usually doesn't, children are left without a practice part. Brilliant, isn't it?

1.6 Irish Case Study: Key Skills in the Irish Curriculum & Project Maths

I am impressed of how Ireland has made it in this project. I believe that Mathematics is a subject where key skills can play an important role to the futures of the involved students. Thinking, undetstanding, collaborating, analyzing... these are some of the values they are available to approach, while participating on this project. I like the NON -exams approach to solving problems, using scenarios to chose the most effective solution. I appreciate how teachers and students collaborate and interact. In future, all the results of this curriculum can be found as it's a great preparation for the university. I wish this project could be applied in Greece, but I guess it's a dream, right?
